Description

CBT London is proudly co-sponsored by the Ontario College of Family Physicians

YES, "good enough" CBT can be integrated into ten-minute primary care appointments.

Medical CBT is specifically designed for the ultra-brief appointments typical of primary care. In this workshop you'll learn many practical tools that may fundamentally change how you deal with the often-frustrating psychological side of medical practice. You’ll learn flexible medical CBT tools to enhance your existing approaches to common psychiatric disorders (e.g., addictions, anxiety, and depression), chronic medical conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, chronic pain), and disease risk factors (e.g., obesity, lack of exercise, poor stress management).

1. Learn to structure ten-minute appointments to maximize impact

2. Acquire a "deck" of tools of persuasion with broad clinical applications

3. Learn the vital importance of not working harder than most patients

The workshop will be held in Room 1150 of the high-tech Western Centre for Public Health and Family Medicine, a $17 million complex that opened in 2013. The WCPHFM is located at 1465 Richmond Street in London, Ontario. The main switchboard phone number is (519) 661-2037.

Tuition is $395 CDN for physicians, $295 CDN for allied health, and $95 CDN for residents & students.

*American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) members are eligible to receive up to 9.0 Prescribed credit hours for attendance at CBT Canada’s 3.0 hour (/9.0 Mainpro+ credit) workshops due to a reciprocal agreement with the College of Family Physicians (AAFP, 2016).
